Chanctonbury Ring
This is a representation of the Neolithic hill-fort north of Worthing, seen from the west, overlooking the Weald to the north. I have restored its ring of trees, which was ruined in the Great Storm of 1987! The stars are the Plough, or Great Bear (Ursa Major): they are included because there was a rather strange astrologer called Prince Agasicles Syennesis the Carian associated with magical doings at the Ring in the 17th century.
This print is made with black ink on cream paper. Print size: 15.2 x 20cm/6 x 8" |
